Robin A. Wade, Sr. founded the R.A. Wade Company in 1932, beginning with a stone quarry that supplied materials to Republic Steel Corporation’s East Thomas plant. In the 1970s, the company evolved into Wade Sand & Gravel Company, Inc., which continues to operate the East Thomas quarry to this day.
In 1950, under the leadership of Robin A. Wade, Jr., the family expanded operations by founding Superior Products, Inc. in Chilton County. The company operated two locations, mining and processing natural river sand and gravel until 2016—providing decades of service to Central Alabama.
In 2002, the Wade family partnered with Lehigh Hanson to form Red Bluff Sand & Gravel, LLC in Prattville, AL. This joint venture supplied natural sand and gravel to customers across the region for over two decades, operating until 2024.
Across generations, the Wade companies have remained a reliable source for quality aggregates throughout Alabama—built on a legacy of consistency, trust, and service.
